Business Development Manager, Europe

Position Summary

Generates steady revenue for the Company through acquiring new customers, managing, and cultivating customer relationships, and promotion of the Company’s products and services to prime integrator companies, within the Defense Industrial Base. Maintains a high level of professionalism, communication, and comprehension of the Company’s product and capabilities. Strong market knowledge and an existing network of contacts within the industry are keys to success in this role.

The successful candidate is a proficient and innovative high-level sales negotiator with strong skills in building relationships. They will have the ability to clearly communicate product benefits aligning with customers’ specific needs, particularly within the European military and commercial sectors. A deep understanding of professional sales strategies, account management, and sales forecasting will be essential in driving success and fostering long-term partnerships across diverse markets.

Key Responsibilities / Duties Include

  • Cultivate Strategic Relationships: Build and nurture lasting relationships with Prime Integrator customers and European market stakeholders at various levels, including end users, supply chain managers, and officers, to foster ongoing business opportunities.
  • Competitive Intelligence: Stay informed of market and competitor activities, providing timely reports that inform strategic adjustments and innovation.
  • Market Expansion: Proactively identify key programs and initiatives and actively participate in and contribute to professional associations relevant to the 3D perception market.
  • Sales Forecasting: Deliver accurate and actionable sales forecasts, maintaining comprehensive records in the company’s CRM system to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Achieve Revenue Targets: Consistently meet or exceed revenue goals by effectively selling 3D perception solutions and services within the European market, aligning efforts with the strategic business plan.
  • Opportunity Qualification: Systematically evaluate and qualify business opportunities using a set of criteria such as strategic fit, financial viability, and potential for long-term success to ensure resources are focused on the most promising prospects.
  • Proposal Collaboration: Collaborate with the proposal development team to prepare accurate quotations and proposals that adhere to pricing strategies and comply with government and commercial terms.
  • Product Expertise: Develop a deep understanding of the company’s product offerings to provide informative demonstrations and presentations that effectively communicate the benefits and features to potential clients.
  • Opportunity Management: Work closely with other company personnel to strategically manage and maximize large-scale business opportunities.
  • Contractual Acumen: Maintain a thorough understanding of contract and funding methods, conduct a detailed analysis of customer requirements, and craft compelling value propositions that resonate with client needs.
  • Event Participation: Represent the company at industry-related events to ensure positive brand exposure and network with potential clients and partners.
  • Active Engagement: Engage actively in company meetings, contributing insights and strategies that drive the business forward.
  • Technological Proficiency: Stay informed of emerging technologies and developments to maintain a competitive edge in the market.
  • Policy Advocacy: Uphold, support, and actively promote all company policies and procedures, ensuring compliance and integrity in all business dealings.
  • Adaptive Responsiveness: Be prepared to take on additional responsibilities as needed, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to adapt to changing business demands.

Skills/Qualifications Required

  • Experience – Over 6 years of experience selling directly into military programs and via prime defense and aerospace contractors. Simulation industry related sales experience and/or Simulation engineering background highly preferred.
  • Interpersonal Skills – Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging with all levels of an organization in a personable and effective manner.   • Analytical & Problem-solving Skills – Must possess strategic and analytical skills required to analyze customer problems, propose, and develop effective mutually beneficial solutions.
  • Industry Knowledge – Possesses a strong understanding of military contracts, defense procurement, and relevant purchasing methods, with preferred technical fluency in hardware and software for visual display systems.
  • Organization – Must be highly organized and adept at multi-tasking to manage and prioritize the duties of both inside and outside sales.
  • Communication – Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Verbally engaging and adaptive to situations with the ability to address questions professionally in a positive and persuasive manner.
  • Financial Skills – Must understand basic business financial concepts and to be able to budget expenses in a cost-effective manner.
  • To perform this job successfully, the candidate should have knowledge and experience working with Microsoft Office. Able to use customer/prospect contact activities tools (CRM systems) and update relevant information held in these systems as required.
