Hvalstad, Norway 24 Nov 2025 – 3D perception (3DP) is proud to announce the upcoming delivery of its Lyra™ Visual Display System, integrated into a cutting-edge Black Hawk UH-60M Full Flight Simulator (FFS) developed by Virtual Reality Media (VRM).
Built on 3DP’s proven Lyra Helicopter Dome Simulator Display platform, this advanced simulator replicates a UH-60M configuration with exceptional fidelity and performance. It enables pilots and aircrew to train across all mission profiles and operational conditions. The simulator meets International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Level 4 Flight Simulation Training Device (FSTD) standards, ensuring accurate reproduction of flight performance, emergency procedures, and mission-critical tasks.
Key capabilities include:
- High-Fidelity Flight Training: Accurate simulation of all flight phases, manual and automated
- Comprehensive Scenarios: Normal and emergency procedures, day/night/all-weather operations
- Interoperability: Seamless integration with other training devices across EUCOM
- Advanced Motion Platform: Six degrees of freedom (DoF) electric motion system plus three DoF vibration platform for maximum realism
- Immersive Visual System: 210° horizontal by 63° vertical field of view, NVG-compatible, ICAO 9625 compliant
About Lyra:
The Lyra platform is a core component of 3DP’s modular Northstar™ Visual Display Solution ecosystem. It features a motion-rated 12-foot radius screen, six high-fidelity projectors, and integrated display processing for precise color, luminance, and geometry management. Built on Northstar Aurora™ auto-aligning instrumented screens, Lyra enables camera-free automatic calibration, enhancing cybersecurity and simplifying maintenance. The system supports NVG training with IR stimulation and light-tightening for operational authenticity.
Leadership Perspective
“Our Lyra platform is engineered to meet the most demanding rotary-wing simulation standards, ensuring pilots and crews are prepared for any operational scenario,” said Knut Krogstad, CEO of 3D perception. “This collaboration ensures the highest levels of realism and compliance, giving aircrews the confidence to master even the most complex missions.”
VRM echoed this commitment:
“Partnering with 3D perception allows us to deliver a simulator that meets stringent ICAO standards while providing unmatched realism and authenticity,” said Richard Varga, CEO of Virtual Reality Media. “This program represents a major milestone in providing high-fidelity, mission-ready training solutions.”
This FFS empowers aircrews to rehearse complex missions safely and effectively, reinforcing readiness and interoperability across allied forces.
