About EclipseDynamic Optical Blenders

Eclipse™ Optical Blenders remove extraneous light from overlaps and render dark and NVG scenes seamlessly. Eclipse optimizes the image without sacrificing contrast or dynamic range. The blenders automatically adjust to the scene upon receiving time-of-day signals from the simulator. During transition periods like dusk or dawn, content becomes more difficult to optimize. This challenge is addressed via hybrid blending – a combination of transitional optical blending and electronic blending where servo-controlled optical blenders and electronic blenders are gradually applied. The Northstar system allows for smooth interpolation between scenarios, enabling a seamless and dynamic transition from day to night without interruption.

Optionally, Content-Aware Blending enables the nBox, 3D perception’s all-in-one display processor, to analyze the visual signals from the simulator’s Image Generator (IG), then adjust the Eclipse Blenders in real time. This feature has the added benefit of providing complete IG data security and discrete display system architecture.
